Mountain biking
Discovering the authentic side of Curacao in an active way can be perfectly done by mountain bike. By mountain bike you can easily visit special places such as small villages like Boca Sami, Jan Kok and Willibrordus. Visit protected areas by bike such as Porto Marie with its rare vegetation and flora & fauna or bike over the plains of San Pedro and Hato, the “wild west” of Curacao. In total there are 185 miles of marked MB trails on the island. From short to long and light up to (very) heavy. For more information have a look on www.curacao-actief.nl, under Curacao, and beaches. Here you can also find more information about the rental of mountain bikes.
Diving & Snorkeling
Diving and snorkeling are popular sports on Curacao. No wonder because most reefs are located on a short distance from the beach. From the shore the diver / snorkeler can easily get into the sea, ready to dive. Directly under water you will find a stunning panorama of various species of fish, corals and anemones. Visibility is often around 30 meters which enables divers and snorkelers to fully enjoy everything the sea has to offer. For snorkelers who want more than the usual snorkeling, there is ‘snubadiving’, a combination of snorkeling and scuba diving. A ‘snubadiver’ can breathe underwater through a breathing device and an air hose of about six meters long connected to a cylinder, which floats on the surface. In this way the ‘snubadiver’ does not need full diving equipment in order to enjoy the underwater world. Bounty Adventures offers snubadiving possibilities on Curacao. The website address is www.bountyadventures.com. All about dive sites and locations on: www.curacaoinfo.nl.
